Ground Penetrating Radar, or GPR for short, allows us to find utilities that until recently were determined to be “un-locatable”. PVC pipes, clay tile, underground tanks, and many other structures can now be located with great accuracy depending on certain site conditions. We utilize the industry standard, GSSI Utility Scan TM equipment which helps us with utility detection, UST locating, road inspection, and much more!
In addition to GPR we also have a GSSI, Mini XT structure scanner that can get into small or tight corners. It’s good to scan small particular points of interest of places looking to drill into concrete. The handheld device is also great for scanning concrete columns to look for rebar or conduit.
Our Mini XT, GSSI GPR has been used to find multiple buried lines that are concealed in concrete. Rebar, post-tension cables, conduits, heating elements or voids are different things that we can find. The antenna on the bottom of the unit sends a radio signal into the concrete which bounces off any target it detects, sending back to the receiver to show where it is.
